China Southern Business Class experience

China Southern Airlines is a one of largest airline and full service career in China.

The company is originally from Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Guangzhou Base, as at 1989, currently based in Guangzhou (HQ), Chongqing, Beijing and Urumqi as hubs.

At this time, I am going to write my review of Tokyo (Narita)/Auckland, NZ via Guangzhou flights, but unfortunately photos are NOT able to be shared with this blog for in flight experience and transfer and lounge at Guangzhou Airport.


1, Before your flight

Reservation can be made by both online or call centre, or travel agency, no booking fee is charged for booking through online or call centre. .

However special meals and special assistance (priority passenger) requests are only made by call centre (reconfirmation is required through call centre for passengers only have Chinese domestic flights by 72 hours before your flight.) 

Online check in is NOT available for departure at Narita Airport.

I recommend you should arrive at Narita Airport by 2.5 hours before.

2, At Narita Airport (Tokyo)

China Southern is depart at Narita Airport Terminal 1 North.

This terminal is for all Skyteam alliance member's airlines (except China Eastern, CN and China Airlines, TW due to handling by Japan Airlines, terminal 2) and Virgin Atlantic and Air Caledonia.

Please note: Self Check In is NOT available for any China Southern Flight.

3, In Flight experience from Tokyo to Guangzhou (writing only)
Aircraft: Airbus A330-200
Seat Facility: Total 218 (First 4, Business 24, Premium Economy 48, Economy 142)
In Flight entertainment is provided for all cabins.

My seat was Business Class. 

Cabin Service:

Pre-meal snack and drink after taking off
Meals are served from Entree, Main then Dessert&Fruits 

By the way, after taking off I slept for two hours on the seat (lie flat bed) but it is okay because I have told cabin attendant for serving meal after woke up.

I really like this experience because it is really comfortable for me more tha seating in Economy class (getting more pressure), then I enjoyed coffee and beans as pre-meal after woke up.

I ordered diabetic meal for heath reason but I do not have diabetic, however I had Grilled Chicken as main meal (not special meal) but it was not oily, so it was good and healthy.

Dessert was cake and chocolate, and fruits plate, especially I was happy with no any sugars for fruits plate. 

Then I had Chinese green tea and coffee for refresh along I was watching flight map in the personal screen.


4, At Guangzhou Airport (writing only)

My flight was arrived at Domestic terminal so all passengers need to take shuttle bus to arrival and transit areas.

First class and Business class passengers will catch private VIP mini wagon to arrival and transit areas fast.

I have flight to Auckland so I needed to proceed transit desk. 

At transit area, there are simply two lanes (SKY PRIORITY and general) (,but if you have connection more than 8 hours, accommodation will be arranged and you can have breakfast, free of charge.) and all passengers need to show passport and next flight boarding pass.

There are NO security check at transit area.

You can enjoy shopping etc, until your next flight's boarding time.

But I am able to enter Sky Pearl Club VIP lounge (First/Business section) until my next flight's boarding time. 

By the way, Sky Pearl Gold and Silver members and Sky Team Elite members can enjoy at lounge (Card section) when you fly with Economy, also If you have flight itinerary of Australia or New Zealand/London flight and Any cities (except Oceania) and London (connection time more than 4 hours), you are able to use lounge (card section) as well. 

At VIP lounge, there are modern Chinese style dining area, comfortable lounge spaces, computer desks, sleeping room, shower room and refreshment area.

I recommend you should enjoy delicious meal (Western&Chinese buffets, and noodle&wanton soup as order-made by chef) at dining area.

I enjoyed Chinese buffet and wanton noodle with Qingdao beer that is very proud and I enjoyed Cheese cake and coffee at lounge area.

But, this lounge is NOT air-conditioned and very warm, you are getting hot so you should bring fan.

4, In Flight experience from Guangzhou to Auckland (writing only)
Aircraft: Boeing 787-8 (Dream Liner)
Seat Facility: Total 228 (First 4, Business 24, Economy 200)
In Flight entertainment is provided for all cabins.

My seat was Business Class.

Meals are served from Entree, Main then Dessert&Fruits

Pre-arrival Breakfast

This flight time was about 11 hours, but before I concern about this aircraft engine is General Electronics (GE) because Japan Airlines (JAL) supposes to use this aircraft Narita/Sydney flight in December 2013, but it was cancelled for engine concern against bad whether on their flight route by GE, but China Southern still operates Guangzhou/Auckland fight and there are no any engine issues.

After taking off, Beer and beans are served as pre-dinner the Supper was served, my main meal was Chicken with red bean rice because I have order diabetic meal also, but main meal was really good and then I enjoyed fruits plate and coffee before sleeping.

Sleeping time: about 7 hours

Breakfast: Yogurt, salad then pouched egg and boiled potato as main meal.

But some of passengers enjoyed Noodle with Braised Beef as breakfast.

Finally, I did not get tiredness in this flight, I am so happy for sleeping well on the flight. 

My flight was landed at Auckland  safety (arrived earlier than 45 minutes before original time), however NO ExpressPath at immigration for us, but there are no passengers in front of me at immigration.

In conclusion, China Southern is really good totally because the fare was absolutely cheap when I bought this ticket, this ticket was Business class full fare, cheapest Business class tickets are also available from Japan to Australia via Guangzhou as well.

From Australian side, China Southern has been recruiting many Australian-based cabin attendants for targeting English passengers especially Australia/London as Canton route along they are getting competitive with Kangaroo route (via Singapore), Dubal route and Abu Dhabi route, however Canton route is really cheap.

Frankly speaking, I have NO any issues for flying with China Southern.
